After putting her readers in ‘another man's shoes’, Sede Alonge cleverly mocks her opponent by using Heinrich’s method of ‘taking the middle course’. ‘In an argument, it helps to make the audience think your adversary’s position is an extreme one’. Her article reads ‘It has also become a case of some women wanting to dictate to other women how they should wear their hair. If they don’t comply, it means they are “trying to be white” or “cultural appropriators”, as the case may be.’ Sede does this to clarify how ignorant her opponent is being. Just because a black woman wants to wear her straight, doesn't mean she wants to be white.
Being white is more than hair, it's about history and culture. When a person chooses to wear their hair in braids or dreadlocks they don’t think ‘I want to be black’. Their though process is more along the lines of appreciation or visual appeal. Many of us dress up as Cats, Witches or even the occasional Playboy Bunnies during Halloween. I wouldn’t be correct in saying those that do want to work with black magic, live in mansion governed by one man, modelling indecently for a magazine. So why is it that we assume white people want to claim black hairstyles because of the way they choose to wear their hair?
When given a choice readers often take the middle option as it provides smudge's from both parties, when one party is extreme it only seems right to go with the other who appears to be rational.

I take it you’re either natural, permed or both (transitioning) and are on the brink of having a hair meltdown. I understand there's tons of information out there readily available, unfortunately all of it isn't credible. There are still a lot of natural misconceptions that tend to surface of the web now and again.
Who knows of knows if what you’re reading is true or better yet if it will work for your hair type. I’ve big chopped, helped my mother go through the same process and have been fortunate to plan some of my friend’s natural hair regimes. Let’s be honest here, I’m a college student, I don’t have millions of followers on YouTube but I have years of experience with natural hair. I don’t have companies sending me products to review but I do go out and buy them myself, and I can
inform you about the right hair products for your individual hair type accordingly. I’ll be there to spare you all the tedious searches, natural hair jargon and pennies.

When it all seems good and great and things don't go according to plan, here’s the place to be.
This is the place to come when you need that encouragement. I’ve been natural for three years and I’m still learning new things everyday single day.

Natural hair testimony: I wore my hair in braids for most of my lower education but never got passed neck length. Throughout my childhood I was under the bizarre impression that water broke of African hair and that instead, hair grease would make it grow. When it wasn't in braids it was stretched with a blow drier or permed. It was only until my usual methods of taming the beast failed that I was forced to go natural. Of course we all have our relapses; mine was through using a Texturizer. Don't be fooled, It's just as bad. It took me big chopping three times for me to be natural inside and out.
